Russia's 2026 Entertainment Industry Professionals Forum assembled leading figures from the country's leisure and nightlife industries. Held from September 21 to 26, it overlapped with NATMALL, the premier exhibition devoted to commercial property and entertainment infrastructure, held on September 22. While industry leaders debated the future of a Russian entertainment sector that hit 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are examining more closely the corporate architecture behind some of Moscow's best-known nightclub brands.

Mikhail Danilov

Behind spots like Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty is a complex network of businesses connected to one of the entertainment industry's seasoned entrepreneurs in Russia. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov built his fortune in the tobacco business in the 1990s, scaling his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a chain of stores with hundreds of retail locations and revenue of as much as $200 million by the mid-2000s. Having sold the tobacco business, he turned his attention to nightlife.

Via the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family developed a vast network of Moscow nightlife venues extending across more than two dozen sites. These have featured the legendary Rai, as well as Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor garnered broad attention in the wake of a series of high-profile events. The venue was afterwards renamed Arma and subsequently announced it was closing.

Discussing the size of his operations in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov pointed to Stadium Live as the company's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which primarily hosts club-rock events, accommodates up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be Moscow's number one this autumn both in terms of the quality of performers playing there and the number of concerts — we are planning at least 20 events a month." He also portrayed himself as deeply immersed in the music scene: "I truly love techno music, I go with real pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I personally know many artists and DJs."

The majority of legal entities connected with the holding company are registered under the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, rather than Danilov himself. She is listed as the owner and director of a considerable portion of the businesses. Industry observers describe the arrangement a standard model of succession in a family business: the founder stays the central strategic figure while the new generation gradually assumes legal ownership and daily management of the nightclub assets.

As the Russian entertainment industry responds to evolving consumer habits and regulatory shifts, the forum provided both a tribute to the sector's resilience and a reminder about the complex ownership structures that have formed Moscow nightlife for decades.
